Questions about Samsung Instinct and HTC Touch Diamond?

I really dont know alot about cell phones but i am plotting to get one of these two (or iphone but its kinda expensive). I have to know that are these cells can only be brought under a contract. or can i buy it full price and use prepaid cards…? I live in Canada and telus provides these two phones. As a last Q, what is GSM??? As i said i really dont know much about cell phones. Thanks in enhancement.

if you really want a touchscreen phone (google ‘touchscreens suck’ before you make this pronouncement), then the diamond. its a windows mobile smartphone, and the instinct is a dumb phone. you cannot bed in third party apps on dumb phones.
i couldnt tell you everywhere to get them without a contract as youre a canuck.
gsm is simply a type of cell network. theres really no point into going any further.

GSM (Global System for Mobile communications) is a frequency that most of the world uses for cell phone service, America and Canada also use CDMA (Code division multiple access) which is a stronger service that is used by companies like Sprint or Verizon, but GSM has been around longer and like i said used by more countries (except Japan who are so far advanced in technology that they have their own frequency)
So between the instinct and diamond, the instinct is a cool small phone, it is fantastic for entertainment purposes but if you want to use your phone for business (such as excel documents) you would want to go for the diamond, htc produces the touch series and have more experience with PDA’s (Personal digital assistant) everywhere samsung are hit and miss with a lot of their products, when the instinct first launched, Sprint had a lot of churn (returning phone within trial period) due to reception being terrible, you really have to have EVDO (high-speed) in your area to have the best outcome with the instinct so make sure you have full coverage! so my choice would be the diamond, but if the instinct is what your leaning toward and don’t need the business side, just make sure you receive the reception needed for it. excellent luck, hope i helped:)

ive only heard that the touch diamond will be on t mobile and the raphael which is like the diamond except with a slide out full qwerty keyboard will come out on sprint
