Which specs are better for a gaming computer?
I’m getting a two making a bet computers built for my teenage sons who play WOW, Starcraft, Demigod, etc. I’ve received two price quotation marks and specs from two different people and I don’t know which would be the better system. These aren’t going to be top of the line computers because I can’t afford more than this but anyone suggestions regarding these specs would be appreciated! First computer specs:
E5300 CPU @ 3.6 Ghz
> Intel Quad Core Huge Block CPU cooler
> Frosty Silver 5 Thermal Cooler
> MSI G31 Motherboard
> HITACHI Deskstar P7K500 320GB 7200 RPM 16MB Hard Drive
> 4GB OCZ DDR2 800
> Radeon HD 4830 512MB
> LG 22X DVD+R, 8X DVD+RW, 8X DVD+R DL with LightScribe
> Rosewill Stallion 500 Watt Power Supply
> Windows XP installed (with full bed in disc and key)
> Network Card
Second computer specs (with his comments about the other specs):
Intel E5200 2.5GHz. (the one quoted from the other seller is overclocking the CPU). I can easily overclock this to 3.3GHz.
Stock CPU cooler (No reason for a larger cooler. As these CPUs are very cool. If you want, I can also get the quad core cooler).
ECS G31T-M7 LGA 775 motherboard
Hitachi 500GB or 1000GB harddrive. (for 1000GB, add $ 20).
4GB OCZ DDR2 800
Asus or PNY 9600gso factory overclocked card. This is FAR SUPERIOR than the HD 4830
LG 22x DVD+R with LightScribe
420 watts power supply. more than sufficient. My estimates is that the whole system would draw about 200-250Watts tops when making a bet really hard.
WinXP with disc and key
network card.
price quotation marks are for $ 660 for the first and $ 610 for the second (including shipping)

Both computers are excellent dont reckon you need anything elese 4gb of RAM wouild be more than needed and the onlything elese needed wouild be a quick internet tie but i dont doubt you have a excellent 1

Neither a 9600 nor a 4830 are apt graphics cards for a new making a bet machine. Also, you won’t be able to use all of your 4GB with a 32-bit OS.

the 1st is better the graphic card might need to be upgraded only if the game laggs alot, make sure you bring up to date to the latest directx and the latest graphic driver, signing off

EDIT: After looking at some benchmarks, and FPS of games by the 9600 and the 4830, I would much rather the first computer. The 4830 goes up against the 9800, winning on some games, losing on others. It should all-around be a better graphics card than the 9600. That along with a better processor, makes it a sure win.
How much do each of them cost though?

Is this a excellent making a bet computer? I customized this computer at ecollegepc.com, It’s not that well renowned because they’re just powersellers on ebay that have there own website, It costs 552 dollars without a monitor, keyboard, mouse, or stereo system.

Stock Intel LGA775 Heatsink and Fan
GIGABYTE GA-G31M-ES2L (Intel 3100 Video, G31, PCI-E, 8-Ch Audio, LAN, 4xSATA2, 2xDDR2)

I know it’s not “TOP OF THE LINE”, but will it be able to play games like cod4 or fsx? If it isn’t recommended, can you give me a link to one that is recommended and about the same price? I’m not looking for a HARDCODE making a bet pc, just a decent one
Answer by DietrichVonAwesome
Making a bet is usually associated with the Graphics Card, RAM and the processor. Yes, this one is excellent.

Yeah from the sounds of it you should be able to play without lag. Excellent processor, excellent memory and excellent ram memory. I couldn’t notice the video card specs but possibly I didn’t read it properly

that things dreadful. dont listen to the posters above me, they are obviously stuck making a bet in 2007.
you have a dual core processor, games from 2010 are gonna need a quad core.
you picked a cheap and low performing graphics card, your ram is pretty slow, and not even ddr3.
you will be able to play cod 4, that game is from 2007. as for flight simulator x, may have to run it on medium settings.

Unless you are on a tight budget do not get this system. The E6500 is a low end cpu. It is not even a Core 2 Duo. It is only a pentium dual core which is an grown-up model. Remember the E2160? The E6500 comes from the same line. You want something modern. At the very least get a Core 2 Duo E7400.
The Gigabyte motherboard is used for very low end systems. The board costs about $ 50. The routine of a computer is highly dependent on the quality of the motherboard. Aside from quicker processing speeds for ram, cpu and video, a excellent quality board is stable and will allow you to overclock the cpu and ram if you have the right components.
4GB is not enough RAM. At the very least get 8G. You will be glad that you did.
In conclusion, unless you are on a limited budget then spend a bit more to get a much better system. When export a computer you must plot on how long you plot to use it. If you are going to use it for a few being you want it to be as current as possible without costing you too much money because you don’t plot on export a new computer each 6-12 months.
This system is excellent for by the internet, writing reports and possibly watching movies. But it is not powerful enough to play the latest games or let you do all kinds of cool multimedia stuff.
