what is the diffrence between the htc touch pro 2 locked and unlocked for t mobile?

Locked you have to get a 2 year contract. Unlocked you do not have to get a contract and can use it on any carrier but it is substantially more expensive.

An unlocked phone can be used with other carriers’ sim cards including prepaid sims. A locked phone can only be used with T-Mobile. Though, T-Mobile will unlock phones for customers who have been with them for a while.

Hi all. I hope this is in the right section of a forum. I have HTC Touch Pro 2 from T-Mobile. I need to get it unlocked because I’m traveling overseas for a couple of months and want to use it there. How do I go about it?? Do you reckon I should spend $ 45-$ 65 to buy an unlock code online, or do you reckon I should just call T-Mobile and question them to unlock it? Do you reckon they will do this for me?? And I won’t have that new SIM card in anticipation of I get everywhere I’m going, so I have nothing to insert in it but T-Mobile SIM card that it reads perfect. Thank You People

Im pretty sure that if you go to a tmobile store and prove that you are the title-holder of the phone they will unlock it for you for free.
