Pyramid Schemes... is this an everyday example?

Pyramid Schemes... is this an everyday example?

Took an ad in a paper for a company called Vector. It was a job opening, the interview process was legit, but something seemed extremely fishy.

As you may or may not know, Vector is the company that runs CutCo. Yeah, the people who go door to door promotion knives. Well, in order to sell the knives to unsystematic suckers and family members, you must order a set to demonstrate the knives’ abilities.

And I said, wait hold on…. The company makes money off its own employees before they ever pay them? What if the employees don’t sell the knives, then there’s no commission to be paid to them!

And then it hit me… the people hiring us were scrubs themselves, and they are making money by promotion us, the newbies, knives to demonstrate to customers that never really want the product! Better yet, they’ll get massive commission for making a mass sale! Even better, we certainly are not the first ones that they’re preying on!

Is this not an brilliant example of a pyramid scheme?

If they are only recruiting more people to recruit more people, each to buy the demo, that is a pyramid scheme. They will lie and squirm to tell you they aren’t. They will tell all kinds of tales and add things to make it look different. Pyramid schemes are illegal.
Anytime you are open with a deal to make lots of money and it requires no experience and no skills on your part and they want money up front in order for you to make money, ITS A SCAM, keep looking.

I woke up yesterday and questioned my girlfriend if she wanted to drive down to the Florida Keys for the day. She chose and so we headed south in anticipation of the Florida turnpike finished and we were on US1 then we keep going and going in anticipation of the straight road turned into a T in Key West and I hung a right. We drove down past MILE 0 on US1 and continued to explore, enjoying the grown-up buildings and homes in the area. All of a sudden, we came crosswise a fenced in area that had two man made hills that were pyramid shapped and had concrete steps down one side, nearly similar to the Aztec Zuggurats (or pyramids) I have seen in Mexico. I looked around for someone to question, but it did not appear to be to fantastic of an area to be lynching around in, so I turned around and headed back to everywhere the tourists hang out and we hit a couple bars and had a fantastic time. Now, I am wondering what kind of structures we came crosswise. My it was some kind of land fill. If anyone knows, delight fill me in…thanks

Possibly post this in Travel – Florida or Miami instead of Engineering for a better answer. Or Google Earth or Google Maps and follow the route and use Street View (which is a layer in GE)
