In super mario 64 again : in the desert world with the pyramid, the big bird stole my hat (cap).....?

i took the flying red cap and touched the bird to get my normal cap back, but when the flying red cap effect finished i didn’t have my normal cap on. why?

u no the those tower in the desert house just go up there wait for the bird come near u than jump and kick
press b (jump) than press A(kick)
