HELP....MY CAT IS DESTRUCTIVE AND HYPER?
I rescued a young cat he is now about 6months now he is a great cat and everything but he has become very very destructive he claws tears anything and everything he can i have got him many toys and even the play cubes and built him all sorts of things to play and destroy as much as he wants but he still goes after that and everything else carpet floors curtains has no limits, he also sprints all over the place from one end of the apartment to another constantly and i live in an apartment so cant have a cat waking the neighbors up, he also has been biting and attacking me a lot lately i know cats play but he is definitely taking it to far i try to discipline him and ignore his actions but still doesn’t seem to work i cant even walk to the kitchen with out him attacking me. i am going to get him fixed soon, and was considering de-clawing him as well sense he will be strictly an indoor cat maybe someone can give me a little more advice insight or options on the situation i would greatly appreciate it….
thank you so much i am going to get him fixed see if that helps,
i have done the sprays and no luck and ive def let him know im not happy with him lol but not comfortable with de-clawing im just out of options i seen something called cat nail caps? anyone familar with if its good or a waste of time and money???

Declawing is not much different from cutting off the tips of your fingers. You should have him neutered and see if his behavior changes. If not…I don’t recommend this since you live in an apartment, but when we got another cat, ours calmed down tremendously. We had the same problem with ours, and neutering did not help.
Another thing we have started doing: DO NOT JUDGE ME-MY CATS LOVE THIS. We got harnesses and leashes and we take them outside. Lately we have been able to let the male off his leash and he runs so free and crazy! He loves it, and when he comes back inside, he’s so tired, he can barely keep his eyes open. It’s fantastic.
Edit:
I’ve seen nail caps-they look impossible to put on a cat that misbehaves and it seems like it would be pretty easy for them to pull them off. My cats clean their nails all the time with their teeth-those things wouldn’t last!

You should fix him because I think he will get a bit calmer after that. You should also try to find sprays or smells that he doesn’t like and if he tries to scratch you or try to scratch at anything, just spray him. But, make sure it won’t do anything harmful to him. I hope this helps.

There is no way in hell I would allow my cats to act like that. I would dare them to attack me and tear things up. I would nip that in the bud and real quick. I would light into them and they would know they better not mess up or they answer to me. I suggest you do the same thing with your cat.

Busy kitty and very playful. Have you thought of finding him a playmate? If hes tearing your house apart declawing would be a solution verses getting so upset you give up on him. Its not cruel as people think if hes inside and doesnt need them for defense. You have the right ideas in mind. Do it at a young age or it becomes a big surgery and more costly. You need to live in harmony and he seems like he just wants a lot of attention. This is how kittens play with one another (rough housing)and he will out grow it at some point. Time to just play and wear him down a little a few times a day your his new pal and hes counting on you. If hes not spayed that will help as well. Good luck and enjoy his silliness and get the claws done now, they can also grow back after surgery when they are older.
