iPhone is the best phone out there. Once you go IPHONE you’ll never go back, like seriously. None of the other 3G, 4G BS competes. The iPhone just has this standard, that’s indomitable.

I am not sure why my HTC G1 crashed, but I updated an application (PandaHome) and when I exited the promote, my phone froze, so I took the battery out and place it back in, when I did that, the phone would not get past the android screen and it would loop, then freeze…I never tried to root my phone or anything like that, so I am just wondering what would produce a fatal crash like that…(A small back tale: I had called previously that day to find out why my camera on the phone wasn’t working properly…looked like heat vision and after being walked through a factory reset to find out that wasn’t the conundrum, T-mobile initiated the process of sending me a new phone…then later that even I updated the app and then the crash…) I called the tech support line for T-mobile again and they walked me through a hard factory wipe and that didn’t solve anything…So I did my research and tried all the methods of “fixing” a bricked phone but to no avail…Here is one of the sites and thus one of the methods I tried:

http://code.google.com/p/android-roms/wiki/Unbrick
(said bring up to date terminated, bring up to date failed)

I also tried do get the phone to do the bring up to date.zip (yes I know about the bring up to date.zip.zip), but it said bring up to date aborted…Basically what I am wondering is if I was sold a faulty phone, or if the app caused the brick, or if I burned out the processor by having a lot of apps on my phone or what could be the conundrum…I will be getting a new one in the mail any day now and didn’t want to have the same thing happen again…Help!!
OK if the processor was fried, then can it happen again or was that just a faulty processor? I had quite a few apps on my phone, but I figure that if there is space for the apps then the phone should be able to handle it…?

Sounds like the processor has been fried. I’d wait for the new phone, if I were you.

Hey how’s it going? Got a answer for you, back in June I experienced the phone freezing up on the android screen and did the factory reset. G1 worked for a few days in anticipation of I powered phone off to charge, and when I turned it back on and frozzed up again. Tmobile sent me a different phone and a few days later it happened again, so I deleted my apps and added one by one and tried to see if it was a app I was by. Only had possibly 7 apps to start out anyway, so I knew I didn’t have to many installed. I was by open home and only place that one back on and sure enough that was what was causing the phone to freeze. I even checked on tmobile forums and did a search for g1 frewzing on android screen and seen others were having the same issue. Well I got rid of open home and now use GDE and have never had it happened again. I hope this is helpful to you and hope you don’t get the same phones I’ve returned lol.. I’m on my six all with other issues, but havnt had one conundrum with my last replacement (knock on wood)

Answer by LeviathanTM
my best advice to you is send this back and have them replace the phone. As long as you have insurance, you shouldnt have an issue getting a replacement at all. To me it sounds like a faulty phone which occasionally happens.

If a Master Reset/Hard Wipe doesnt solve the issue then trust me its really the phone itself thats the conundrum.
