Q&A: are here any phones without contract in US?

Hello, I need your help. I live in Europe and going to the USA. there I want to buy a cell phone but without any plan or contract. I heard that in US cell phones and other electronic stuff are way cheaper that in Europe. But when open Ebay.com it shows that HTC desire costs 650 USD. maybe I can’t find. please, help me, where I can buy cheap HTC mobile phone without any plans.
is it possible to find Brand new unlocked phone for this price in US:
HTC Google Nexus One: 480USD
HTC Desire: 400USD
HTC HD2 : 400 USD

US Cell phones are cheaper to buy only because they require 2 year contracts. They probably are cheaper without contracts in Europe.

Okay, i am going to japan over the summer, and i usually get 200-300$ to spend.

Im looking for some wicked phone, which i know cannot work in the U.S

Id want some phone thats atleast iphone comparable, and up to an HTC phone.

Other electronics are cool too, such as video games, etc.

Itd be a great help if youd give me some product names, functions and price.

This site might have the information you’re looking for. Actually contents of the site is not too good. It hasn’t been updated recently. But It’s got quick links to top mobile phone sites. I always find it easier than google searching and browsing through thousands of web sites. I was directed to 3 top mobile phone sites, which i never found in google search. Hope it will help you too.
