How can you tell if a stock jumps around a lot?

How can you tell if a stock jumps around a lot?

I heard Jim Cramer talking about this on Mad Money. Stocks like MasterCard (MA) or Apple (AAPL) tend to jump up and down in price a lot. One day they are down 5 dollars and then the next day they may be up 10.

How can I tell if I am dealing with a stock like this?

Go to finance.yahoo.com

Search for your stock and it can give historical data for every ticker.

you cant…thats the risk when buying stock. it just depends on how well the economy is doing and the company you have stock for.

Answer by Doodle Mac
Just check out the chart on that stock for, say, a 5 day time period. Then, you can see how far down they go, how far up and what they do during trading hours.

You can view charts on yahoo finance or nasdaq.com

Check a chart and look at a stock’s beta. Persons will inform you as to the volatility of a stock, more or less.

Always go for a stock which follows a pattern at the beginning. Once you become an expert you can make speculation. The main point here is the knowledge. Accumulate enough knowledge to make your speculations right. Eventhough market at times perform irrational there is nothing like knowledge to counter it.

$ 100 rebate to anyone who bought an iphone at full price. He has now set a precident for that company, rush out and buy the new ipod, when the price goes down demand a rebate for that too.

Apple stocks dropped 7% days gone by with this news.

Over / Under for todays drop is 20%.

If you own Apple stock, now is the time to sell.

Answer by sin titulo
apple was doomed ten years ago….now they are just life stupid trying to monopolize everything.

Answer by Larry V
While I thought the whining from iphone owners was pitiful, I don’t reckon Jobs doomed Apple. This just earnings that from now on, the price changes will take longer to happen – so what iphone owners did was hurt themselves. Whereas in the past, they might have been able to wait a few months and gotten a price drop, now they will need to wait years or live with the high price.

Oh well, place it to apple fans to kill the golden goose.

Doom? Hardly.

Rather, he probably brought a lot of open buyers into the Apple orchard in the end.

Answer by P.Y.T.
maybe. perhaps the iphone has defaults no one has noticed yet, and they are just trying to sell as many as possible. or maybe he recieved a threating phone call any way he’s looking more and more like a p.ussy that cant stand his ground.

Answer by Pip
Maybe Apple realized that paying that much money for a phone is stupid. I don’t care how many things you can do with it. In the end something new and better and smaller will come out.
