Which OS is better, Google Android 1.6 or Apple iPhone 3.1?

Which OS is better, Google Android 1.6 or Apple iPhone 3.1?

I’m reckon of any switching to t-mobile and buying the mytouch 3G, or switching to AT & T and buying an iPhone 3GS. But my real concern is the phone OS. Which is better, the Google Android 1.6 or the Apple iPhone 3.1? Also which carrier is better t-mobile, or AT & T?

I have a G-1 and I am on AT&T network. Now, with that said I personally like the android menu way better and like the app store more so. I dont use Itunes, I use Amazon music, I like my music cheap and DRM free and its awesome. The OS on Android is over the air upgrade.Apple not so much. I personally don’t have any huge problems with any network. GSM is excellent on both far as coverage.

why must you have the phone to answer?
I know a fantastic deal about cell phones, yet i only own two.
First, there is no such business as a google android phone. Its an operating system that is on at least 3 phones.
if you are saying what is better, android or symbian s60 v3 (which the e71 runs), then its going to be the sym s60 today, but android tomorrow.
The reason is that an open source operating system will always have more applications because it costs developers nothing to license it. If you are a developer for sym s60, you pay nokia (who owns sym s60) money to buy the coding basics. Right now, symbian s60 is the second largest smartphone platform in the world (windows mobile is number one). App wise, it has about 10% less then windows mobile. andorid has 99.9999% less then sym s60.
Now, if youre in the united states, then it depends on your needs. there are two versions of the e71. the e71-1 does not support US 3g, while the g1 does. But, the g1 3g can only be used on tmobile, as it doesnt support the right frequency bands for att.
The e71-2 supports US 3g, but has a very terrible battery life compared to the htc g1 aka Tmobile g1(the only phone with android available in the united states).
So if hes on att and requires quick data on his phone, the g1 would be a terrible choice.
The htc g1 has a larger screen, but a lower resolution and color support. The e71 has a very responsive screen and its simple to read websites on the small font option.

but, the g1 lacks reasonably a few features which the e71 supports. The g1 does not have a record player. if your father watches videos while coming up for something, then the e71 would be better.
Life that your father is a blackberry man, then he may prefer the blackberry email client that the g1 natively supports. Nokia ditched this support in their symbian s60 v2 platform update.
But, he may also delight in the form of the e71 as it is more ‘blackberryesque’. The g1 and the sideways screen with the slider qwerty may be annoying to use.
If it was me, I would get the e71-2

right what Andrew said about comparison of the O/S Symbian and Android.. but, I heard that before fully transferring full ownership of Symbian to Nokia, the Symbian Foundation has issued news that they will be releasing an Open Source Version of Symbian.. so, considering that there are lots and lots of apps and developers out there right now for Symbian, we would expect to have more from Open Source Developers???

anyway, I am using the e71 right now.. and let me tell you, that it acts as a very-ultra-mobile-pc like gadget… if we compare the new T-Mobile Android phone right now with the e71, I would still go for the e71 mainly because I find a lot of personal disadvantages on the current Android phone… for one, it is a slider and I have tried the N80ie and N95 to know that sliders in the long run tend to “come undone” up a bit on the hinges (for me, the more you don’t have to twist and slide and turn your gadget – like the Clams or sliders – the more you are more reliable in terms of wear and tear)…

also, I dont have gargantuan fingers, thus the close keyboard of the e71 is very excellent for me rather than the touch-screen (iphone) where I tend to touch the incorrect key most of the time…

I do fanfic writing on my e71 using quickoffice, installed a wamp to practice on mysql, installed python to also learn brainwashing on the phone, installed skyfire and can watch whatever multi-media rich websites out there, installed my bank’s s60v3 client for my banking needs, installed palringo to have an all-in-one IM client (that can connect to Yahoo, MSN, AIM, Gtalk and ICQ) and I hear that the e71 default web browser is pretty reliable… so, basically, small of wanting a very wide screen or play mmorpg’s, I may maybe live with my e71 alone without any computers.. in fact, I havent touched my home computer for nearly 2 weeks now…
