Do Canadians know the 'Blackberry' smartphone is Canadian?

According to blackberry, wikipedia, the blackberry was developed by Research In Motion, Canadian telecommunication and wireless device company located in Waterloo, Ontario.

How many Canadians knew this?
I will be perfectly honest with you as the owner of an iPhone, I find the blackberry to be a much less superficial product with a focus on actual what you can do with technology available and less on public appeal and ‘want’. Not that I dislike the iPhone but the blackberry is a more intelligent person’s instrument in my opinion.

Pretty well all of us who pay any attention to the news as RIM has been on it from time to time either in regards to new products or security issues with foreign governments. I have always known that the Blackberry is Canadian and I am not the most up to date person when it relates to smart phones, or any others for that matter.

Answer by Toronto
Thats like saying did you know Canadians are good at hockey.

Answer by Jim B
The two founders of RIM were Professors, of Advanced Computer Science at Waterloo University, when they developed the initial programing to create the blackberry.

The University had/has a creative spin off department, designed specifically to bring scientific break throughs to the market place . RIM is just one of about 2 dozen corporations that have been “born ” at Waterloo University, that are now fully fledged and making millions of dollars, for the University, AND for the investors who bought the shares when they went public.

Jim Ballsillie has donated millions of his personal fortune back to Waterloo, to make it the top computer science school in Canada. The city of Waterloo is now a leading computer science centre in Canada.

what is the dangers of using codes to unlock phones?
thank u!

Answer by Just Your Average Horse Freak
no u cant cuz at&t uses sim cards and verizon doesnt

Answer by Andrew
the storm is both cdma and gsm.
there are no dangers in unlocking a phone.
It does support att frequencies.

Answer by AJF
If you have at&t already why bother with an ice cold frozen storm just get the iphone! I had verizon for 8 years and was holding off on the iphone because i enjoyed verizon service, however the storms release got me excited for an iphone-like phone on verizon and to say i was dissappointed is an understatement. Not only did i return my storm but i paid an extra $ 250 to verizon to cancel both mine and my girlfriends contracts and bought us both iphones which was another $ 450! thats how bad the storm is so dont waste your time or money on a phone that made me realize how bad i wanted a responsive touch screen device. Also i save about $ 60 a month on the switch so ill break even next year
