How do I make Android check my texts for a certain message?

My friend has an app on his droid that makes it ring uncontrollably if you send it a text with a certain phrase. This is useful for if you lost your phone.
I’m new to android but a veteran in Java and was wondering how it’s possible to check the texts you receive to see if it has the passphrase.
Please provide some coding examples
