Can you use an HTC Touch Pro 2 without a sim card in it?

I was just wondering if you can still use the HTC Touch Pro 2′s features in it without a sim card (Excluding calling, of course)?
Cool, So if I had skype, could I avoid the $ 30/M data plot since there’s no SIM card and my phone wouldn’t be activated(Unlocked)?

i reckon you can. I have another model of HTC and I can use all the apps which run internally

OK, I just now tried it just for you. I took the SIM out of my Touch Pro 2 and it fired up with just a slight bit of protest about a gone SIM but I was able to access each thing with the exception of apps that require tower access. I must point out that I am not running the original OS as I happen to be a Sparkle-a-holic and change ROMs about twice a week and all ROMs do not work the same. I usually use one of many expired SIMs lying around here to run without one as when I’m working on the TP2 so that I don’t have to place up with the nasty grams.
If Skype runs via WiFi, you should be home free.

I am due for an upgrade and I trying to choose between the Motorola Cliq and the HTC touch pro 2. Can anyone tell me the pros and cons of one or both of the phones. Does anyone have recommendations between the two? Or can somebody recommend another T-mobile phone? Thanks

the HTC touch pro 2 is a excellent phone but i have the CLIQ, it has motoblur which allows you to stay updated with your accounts like your yahoo mail, google mail, myspace, facebook, ect.
plus it’s preloaded with helpful apps that most smart phones aren’t.
