How can i set a ring-tone/ or sound for when i get a text message on my htc hero?

i have apps from the market that are ring-tones and sounds but i don’t know how to set it so that when i get text message it plays. i try setting it as my main notification but it still won’t play, only if i get voice mail. Please Help and Thanks.

Messages/Menu/Settings and then Select Sound

Well, I had both the Instinct and the Hero. I liked the Instinct, BUT I like the Hero A LOT better. It has so much more than the instinct, PLUS, the Hero haves Android. Which is like the Apple apps. You have to get the simply everything plan though. If you don’t talk that much and if you know a lot of ppl that have Sprint just get the simply 450 plan. Plus you can try it for 30 days hassle free.
