Can you use a new sprint phone (specifically the HTC EVO 4G) on Virgin Mobile?

I know that Virgin Mobile operates off of the Sprint network, and is also owned by Sprint, and a friend is going to sell me an HTC EVO 4G cheap, so I need to know if I can use it on Virgin Mobile. I am fine unlocking it if need be.

Hi.First make sure the phone is compatible for one of Virgin’s plans. If that is excellent to go then you would need to flash over the phone. Flashing is like unlocking…..There are companies out there that offer to flash/unlock the phone for you.

I currently just have internet, data and boundless texts, but no GPS or Sprint TV. Do you need all that for the EVO?

Answer by philly_romantic
The GPS and Sprint TV are part of the plot, even if you have to pay extra for some of the items that are on Sprint TV (for example Nick TV, etc).

Then you should have the Boundless Everything data plot. That comes with GPS which you’ll need for the Evo. There are a lot of apps that require the use of GPS. Sprint TV also comes with it but you pay extra certain channels. But, you also pay $ 10 extra a month on top of the plot to pay for 4g service even if you don’t have 4g in your area. Make sure you’re willing to pay that before you commit. In my opinion, even with the extra $ 10, it’s still one of the best boundless plans on the market.
