pheonix gold octane z r 12 rms?

pheonix gold octane z r 12 rms?

ok. idk if anyone can answer this but i recently bought two lightly used pheonix gold octane zr 12″ subs.

all i have found online has told me that they have an rms power rating of 350?! that seems weak.
im running one of them with my pyramid royal red 800.
if i just use one channel it hits OK but when turned up it clips and the sub isnt really pushing much air as apposed to if i run it bridged and the excursion is maxing out at like 3 inches! way cooler and it doesnt distort as easy. just wondering if anyone knows if bridging it is gonna destroy the sub lol

also im running that plus a 300 watt jensen amp to my 6 x 9s and it seems to me that the pyramid isnt getting enough power cuz after a few minutes it will quit if its bridged and it wont work bridged agian till i have driven around with the amp off for a while.

1. 350WRMS is a pretty good rating for an entry level woofer. Pioneer, etcs entry levels dont handle that much.
2. The Pyramid probably puts out 80WRMS into 2ohm per channel.. no fear of blowing the PG’s on that little power.
3. You get more power bridged because it halves the impedence load, making the amp throw more power into the subs.
4. I bet its getting extremely hot and going into thermal protection when bridged. Next time it does it touch the amp and I bet its scaldingly hot.

Your best bet to get a lot more bass and stop the shut downs would be to drop that Pyramid amp, and get into a quality amp with a higher RMS rated power output (MAX power is BS).
Phoenix Gold make some really nice amps for very cheap.. like this 400 watt RMS ! Amp for $ 125

Finish it off with a good wiring kit for $ 16:

I love "golden hour"–that time of day where the sun hits everything at just the right angle. I thought this one was neat for the branch Between it, its shadows and its reflections, there’s a lot of shapes there. One line makes a full pyramid. Sorta cool.

Someone suggested to me that I could increase my chest strength by doing 10 sets of ten with 60-65% of your max strength. I max out at 260 so that means I should do it at 185 right? I currently do pyramids of 20-15-12-10-5 with 135,185,205,225,250 from lowest to highest and then highest to lowest, all I want to know if that technique will work because I want ot hit 3 plates by november and I’ve been lifting since feburary. I also do supersets and my rest period is 6 days in between, and in those 6 days I work out every other muscle once a week

You need to lower your reps if you want to build strength. 4 sets of between 4 – 6 reps. Those really high reps are muscle endurance/hypertrophy at best.

btw, if you can hit 250 for five after all that, then your max is higher than 260.

Typically, lower number of reps to exhaustion increases bulk and higher number of reps increases endurance. Strength is usually associated with bulk. Once a week is a maintenance workout and generally does not increase strength, and, in my opinion, would lead to a decline in bulk and strength over time. I know there are a lot of different methods out there, but I still think the best is to start with the max weight you can do 6-8 full reps with and do consecutive sets to exhaustion. The more times you move a weight the more it becomes an endurance exercise which is not what you want for a dead lift (which I assume is what you’re after).
