Well you’re choosing from two very good phones. I have the Evo. I didn’t want a slider phone, but I was concerned since I was coming from a phone with a physical keyboard, but typing on the Evo is very easy. Plus I love HTC Sense UI, it’s very customizable and flows great for someone with a busy life. Also, I just really like HTC phones, and the operating system.

I just happened to walk into the Sprint store too get my EVO when they had, literally, just gotten their first shipment of the Samsung Epics. I tried it out. The OS is the same as the EVO. I have to admit Androids OS is pretty fantastic. Much better than most of the cookie cutter stuff you get from Sprint. Comparing between the different OS’s is like comparing computer OS’s. Sprint’s standard OS is the same as you get with almost all standard Sprint phones. Think of them as like Apple OSx. You know what you are gonna get, no surprises, still very good though. Windows is like Windows on a computer. Clunky and a lot of stops and starts, but not much need to customize. You do start getting more options on customization though. Android is like running Unix on a computer. Takes a while to get used to. If you want to take full advantage of it, you better do some homework and start downloading some apps and start setting up your pages. The world is your cookie though. It will be what you make of it. I was never a fan of clamshell phones so you can probably tell my feelings on the slideout keyboard. I think they can be wonderful, but if you do not take good care of it, it will break on you. My last phone was and HTC Touch Pro. The keyboard and screen separated from one another after the first year and a half. This is technology that needs to get better fast, but I like the feel of the keyboard over the touch screen keyboard. That being said, I was very skeptical of the on screen keyboard of the EVO. Then I tried it and was surprised how fast I was able to type and how responsive it was. The suggestive feature of the phone got it right 95% of the time. I was able to type faster on that then I was ever able to on my Touch Pro. I rarely have to make corrections on my typing even though I type very fast with it. I know I make an incredible amount of mistakes with it, but it catches almost all of my mistakes. The screen is fast and clear. I do watch movies on it from Sprint’s movie database and the movies are as clear to me as watching on a VERY SMALL screen TV. This does have a very nostalgic affect on me from camping trips my family had when I was a kid. The Epic’s screen is slightly, but significantly, clearer though. The battery life is about the same for both phones. I chose the EVO. I am still just not a fan of the clamshell or slide keyboard phones. Now that the responsiveness of the touch screen phones have gotten so good, I do not see much life left in the slide phones. It is just so logical that moving parts tend to break and we are all very rough on our phones.
