How to update iPhone without updating to the newest software?

I would like to update my iPhone 4 to the 4.1 software, but since 4.2 is out iTunes won’t let me update it to 4.1 so is there any other way to do this?

If you have some reason to specifically update only to 4.1, then you’ll have to download it from some 3rd party website.
Beware, they may contain bugs, or be broken somehow. Only trust software that comes from Apple when it comes to your iPhone. But if you really need to get 4.1, just download it from somewhere else.

Connect your iphone to the computer through the cable, I assume that you downloaded the firmware and redsnow. Open redsnow and navigate to the folder where you have the firmware the

Step 2: Follow the instructions on redsnow to enter DFU mode so that redsnow could jailbreak and install the IOS on your iPhone.

Step 3: I assume that the installation completed successfully and you can find cydia on your springboard

Step 4: launch cydia and it will install important stuff and automatically close for the first time.

Step 5 : start cydia again and i assume that you are connected to a wifi network right now so go to magnage tab in cydia and tab edit and then add the following “repo666.ultrasn0w.com”

IF YOUR BASEBAND IS 5.12 THEN UNLOCK HAS NOT YET RELEASED AND WILL BE SOON

Step 6: once it is added just go to the repo666 source and install ultrasn0w for carrier unlock

Step 7 : Enjoy enjoying iPhone
