To download the it just go to the Market program on your Android phone and do a search for maps. It appears at the top of the list.

or

It’s simple to download and install items from Android Market* to your device; just follow these steps:
1.Steer to an item you want to install and select it. The item details screen appears. Read more about the item and its developer on this screen.
2.If you want to install the item, select any the Install or Buy now button.
◦If you select Install, then the item will start downloading immediately.
◦If you select Buy now , you may be questioned to sign in to an additional Google account. Sign in and select Hold now if you want to proceed. Step through the hold screens.

Sprint Nextel and T-Mobile are the only mobile carriers which are part of the Open Handset Alliance (the group which oversees the development of Android). It’s possible that additional carriers will join in the future, but there currently is no indication if that’ll ever happen.

If so, when do you think it will happen?

What features (if any) have been announced for 2.3?
If none have been announce, what do you realistically expect to see?

Thank you!

Answer by jane m
no idea perhaps you could email google and they will be able to tell you that

Answer by Winston
It’s not up to Google, they’ve already released Android 2.3 Gingerbread. It’s up to HTC and Sprint to release the update to the HTC EVO 4G. They could release it in the coming months.

These are the new features on Android 2.3 Gingerbread:
http://developer.android.com/sdk/android-2.3-highlights.html

Not all of these would be accurate because HTC would change some of these with their own stuff (eg: HTC Sense)

Does android phone offer updates similar to the iphone?

Does android phone offer updates similar to the iphone?

If I buy an android phone with ancient operating system, can I upgrade my phone to the most current operating system via updates for free from Google or android developers.

Answer by josh r
Updates are done automatically, Droid will update itself to the newest OS on its own even if it is running on an older OS, gets on my nerves sometimes because stuff randomly changes and I dont know why till i realize an update is out, you can also force the updates if they dont go on their own very simply. The link in my source clarifies that. Go droid, I did!

Answer by ScσττRΛSC³
Depends… certain Android phones are getting the update where as others any aren’t or aren’t for a while. e.g. The Nexus One is the only one currently with 2.2 whereas some others are getting it this weekend. More like a phased in update for the innumerable phones that Android runs on, disparate the iPhone where it is generally the same phone so everyone can update at the same time once the software is unrestricted.

Google voice android app?

Google voice android app?

If I have this app on my mytouch will calling to canada be free or how does this work? I called using the gv business and first it showed some google voice number then called the number in canada but on my call log it only shows the number for canada. Will I get charged on my bill for calling canada or will it count as the additional number so its free?

Answer by ddominic
When you install the Google app and register your cell phone with the Google Voice, anytime you dial a phone number the app will automatically question you if you want to call the phone number using Google Voice or your cell phone carrier. Since it is a Canada number you would have to choose using Google Voice otherwise if you select your cell phone carrier you will be paying for the cell phone call due to international calling and you will use your minutes.

With Google voice all calls within USA and to Canada are free. No long distance charges. Make sure you choose using Google voice after you enter the phone number that you are calling to.

How to close the application on iPhone without keeping it in multitasking bar?

How to close the application on iPhone without keeping it in multitasking bar?

Hi, is there a way how to close the application without having it showed in multitasking bar? Or to disable multitasking entirely. I really despise how the multitasking “works” on iPhone..

Thanks

Answer by x.jem.x
Yeah….just close the application the same way as before.
Just press the home button once rather than twice and then instead of the app life showed on the multitasking bar, it will just close as normal.

And as far as I know, there isn’t an option to turn it off.

Answer by Dan
You can’t, as of yet. You have to “kill it off” manually by holding down the icons and beating the minus symbol.

Answer by my-iGuru.com
Open up the multi-tasking bar by double-clicking the home button.

Then touch and hold on one of the icons in the multi-tasking bar.

The icons will start to wiggle and in the top left handside there will be a minus sign in a red circle.

Simply click on the minus sign to close the application.

Answer by Poohdinkie
I reckon you guys are missing the point to the question (and one really incorrect answer as well). Is there a way to just CLOSE the app? And I don’t reckon there is a way to close it on the glide. I’m really reasonably shocked at this huge oversight on Apple’s part. I reckon your average iPhone user is going to keep using his or her’s phone during the day and start wondering why it’s getting so slow and unsympathetic. Then you double tap the home button and see 12 different apps all intake up memory at once. It’s pretty inconvenient to “force” the app to minimize with no way “kill/close” option on the glide. Having to go in and manually shut each app down periodically is a whole pain.

Answer by Stephanie
IT’S EASY TO CLOSE THE APP. Just click and hold it in the task bar like you would if you were going to rearrange app icons on the home screen. A small red “DELETE” dot will appear instead of an x. Click that and it’s closed. I do it all the time. As for turning the feature off, welcome to iOS4.

I have an HTC android (Google)phone. Can I merge calendars on outside websites to this phone?

I want to merge 3 calendars from meetup.com. This would make my life excellent again, as trying to manage all of these meetup calendars separately from my droid is confusing…
There’s gotta be a way…?? I am on Google calendar help, and tried to enter the URL for one of the metup calendars, but it won;t accept it, it says “The address that you provided did not contain a calendar in a valid iCal or GData format.”…

Is synchronizing all of the calendars collectively on my HTC Droid phone possible?

Thanks so much…

Answer by Luke
You need to sync your calendars with Google Calendars and then you can sync it with your phone.

The i68 & i9+ are Chinese iPhone knock offs. Imitations. They are terrible phones. Avoid at all cost.
