a rectangular octagonal pyramid has a base with edges of length 6ft and lateral surfaces with slant ht of 8 ft

what is the surface areas if the base area is b
what is the perimeter of the base

Answer by ironduke8159
If you mean a regular octagonal pyramid then the perimeter of the base is simply (8)(6)=48 feet.

The area of one of the unencumbered surfaces is (1/2)(6)(8) = 24 sq feet.
Since there are 8 such surfaces, the total area of the unencumbered faces is (24)(8)= 192 sq feet. Therefore the total surface area is 192+b.

I do not know of such a thing as arectangular octagonal pyramid.

V=b²h/3

Answer by rm
volume pyramid=basearea x height x 1/3

area = base ^2 = 11.439^2= 130.851 units^2

volume = 130.85 units^2 x 16.664 x 1/3 =
726.832 units^3

Answer by bigivima
v = lwh/3
v = (11.439*11.439*16.664)/3
v = 726.832 (cubic units)

This site tells in detail how to obtain the volume of any geometric shape!!

ok, that’s certainly the formula.

now if u are attracted how we achieved that formula, u ‘ve to imagine a cuboid of base a sqaure of size ‘b’ and height h.

try to remove the pyramid from the cuboid.
u will find 4 half -pyramid left in the cuboid. These half-pyramids are equal in height.
so, there are over three pyramids in that cuboid.

volume of cuboid = b*b*h = volume of 3 pyramids.
volume of pyramid = 1/3 *Base* height

Though, the real formula comes from integrating the diffrerential volume.

Beneath the Pyramids

Beneath the pyramids of Egypt lies a lost underworld of catacombs, hewn chambers, and cave tunnels. They are alluded to in ancient texts and Arab legends, but have been left unexplored in anticipation of now. They have now been rediscovered and investigated for the first time by science and description writer Andrew Collins. What exactly does this subterranean realm tell us about the pyramids, their relationship to the stars, and the mythical origins of Egyptian people? Lavishly illustrated with color ph
