Why is my HTC touch pro 2 overheating?

Why is my HTC touch pro 2 overheating?

I have an HTC touch pro 2, Codename “Raphael” from ATT. The phone tends to get very hot when it is used a lot or when the wireless feature is turned on. Lately though I believe it is over heating completely. When it gets too hot the keyboard stops working and only the touchscreen keyboard can be utilized in programs. It has also begun to not charge when it is hot and only when I’ve turned it off for a few moments will it charge again. How can I stop this from happening? Is there a software bring up to date that I need to download?

sounds like you have a bug. I would take it back to ATT and have them take a look at it. they should have some kind of warranty or exchange policy that will help you. a phone should not overheat to the point of malfunction.

I would say its more of a hardware conundrum then a software conundrum. For example a fan might be malfunctioning.
Although it might even be something as minor as you’re leaving it on too much.
Take it to a local phone shop and question them about it. After all, they are the trained experts and will be able to help you no matter what :)

Phones getting hot to the touch are usually experiencing battery failure or some sort of hardware/wiring conundrum. Either way, your phone is in distress and you should take it back to the vendor (hopefully it is still under warranty).

Even if it is not under warranty, if you politely insist to the service rep that you feel something should be done for you seeing as their phone has failed. Many times service reps are trained to provide excellent deals to customers who won’t take no for an answer.

If they don’t do anything for you – consider a new phone and new carrier.

The back of this phone initially place me off, photos make it look cheap and tacky. In person though, it’s quite nice. Would’ve preferred a mix of soft touch plastic and aluminium like HTC is by now, but hey can’t have it all!

The device is thin and very set alight, felt odd to hold at first having used a beefy G1 for so long. it’s nice to have something that slips in your pocket and doesn’t bulge out and weigh you down :)

I’m goig to bring up to date my alltel HTC touch phone to Windows Mobile 6.1 by the bring up to date software found at HTC’s site. I know this will erase all my exsisting data. My question is this – I have the SPB Back program on my phone now that backs up my entire phone onto my SD card each two days. After the bring up to date I know I can redownload the backup program from Handango, but I can restore the PIM on the phone with the back up made by Windows Mobile 6.0 since the phone will be upgraded to windows mobile 6.1? Long question I know, but any help is appreciated.

Answer by damon
you should have no issues… the 6.1 upgrade is worth it…but there’s no changes to the core OS everywhere it would have an issue with your backup. delight in your threaded txt messages!

Never, never, never even try, to restore a backup from another OS. It just doesn’t work. Even it the program offers to do that. Always do a manual reinstall. It’s a bit of a pain but it is the only safe way. I should know, I’ve tried it. When you go from WM6.0 to WM6.1 you are going to a different OS, backups are not compatible.
Hope that helps.
