T-Mobile. It’s also available without any contract or carrier. If you need Hero cheaper without contract, you can mail me or talk with me on Yahoo!

What are the differences between these 2 phones? and are they on the same carrier?

Answer by Chris M
Both are the same phone, but the case does vary by carrier and specific variation. If you’re export it for sprint, it’ll be the second one that you’ll be getting.

For more information on the Hero and the variations read below.

Phone developers, especially HTC (on their android phones), will make a particular phone model and release variations crosswise all of the providers. The vital thing to know is that there will only be one HTC Hero per provider, though in some cases it will really be under a different name (on Verizon, it’s the Droid Eris, G2 Touch on T-Mobile). Each variation will often have small differences like slightly different batteries, changing out a few small features.

Example of differences: http://www.htc.com/us/products/equate/47-113?view=1-2&sort=0&filters=3-0-0

Be aware that if you’re looking for a new android phone, the Hero is a few generations ancient and in most cases will not receive anywhere near the latest updates.

So I went and got for myself the new-to-Canada (finally!) HTC Hero now. Thing is, Telus has exclusitivity, but since they’re now GSM, they can be used on all other phone carriers! Verizon = CDMA/EVDO 800/1900 ATT = GSM/GPRS/Edge 850/1700/1900/2100; 3G 850/1900 T-Mobile = GSM/GPRS/Edge 1900; 3G 1700/2100 Wind Mobilicity = GSM/Edge 850/900/1800/1900; 3G 900/1700/2100 Telus Bell Rogers = GSM/GPRS/Edge 850/1700/1900/2100; 3G 850/1900 (So just equate the network frequency bands between the phone carriers and you’ll know who’s compatible with who; also remember, these are UNIVERSAL standard settings, so you can use them on any Rogers phone) Anyway, you first get the phone/SIM unlocked through various sources (I got my unlock code off eBay), and simply follow my video’s instructions to get data and internet working on Rogers 3G network. All programs – Settings – Wireless controls – Mobile network – Mobile network settings – Access point names – Menu – New APN – Name = “xxx” APN = “internet.com” Username = “wapuser1″ Password = “wap” MMS settings – All programs – Settings – Wireless controls – Mobile network – Mobile network settings – Access point names – Menu – New APN – Name = “xxx” = APN = media.com – Username = “media” – Password = “mda01″ – MMSC = “mms.gprs.rogers.com”
