Is there a way to use a sprint smartphone without changing my data plan?

Long tale small, I called to make sure if I got the htc hero off eBay that I would be able to activate it on our plot no conundrum, no changes. When I called the first time they said absolutely. So I get the phone, buy a charger, get all set up to call and activate it… Can’t do it without changing the plot because it’s a smartphone.

There has got to be some other way around this. I now have the lg lotus elite… Unlimited EVERYTHING, so there really should be no conundrum. And I shouldn’t have to change anything on the plot. We just renewed our contract last year.

Help delight! I fell in like with this phone and all I can do is look at it!!

There’s been a few things that I read everywhere no one had to change there plot for getting s smart phone….

Sorry, I know you don’t want to hear this, but there is no way around the data plot…

sorry… if the Carrier says its a smartphone, then its a smartphone.. and its mandated to have a Data plot… Its like that with any wireless carrier in the USA now…

Sprint smart phones require a data plot. There is a $ 10 premium charge for smart phones for unlimited enhanced data. Look at it this way….while most carriers limit the quantity of data or make you pay tiered charges, Sprint charges you $ 10 extra each month for unlimited. It’s still a better deal than the other carriers and no, there is no way out of it. This charge went into effect for all new smart phone activations the end of January.

I have an HTC Hero which I have had for well over a year with sprint, and I have loved my phone. as time has gone on, the USB port on my phone has apparently be converted into worn and less charger friendly, does not connect to my computer, and seems to be losing battery life quicker, charging more slowly [when it does charge] and having compounding issues with internet access. Sprint has come up with the lovely answer that the hurt on the port is not covered under my replacement insurance, so my only option is to get a new phone.

I am curious as to how much a Nexus one will cost me without a T-mobile subscription, as I cant seem to dig up the information for myself.

T-Mobile no longer sells the Nexus One and it’s no longer available from Google. Undoubtedly, there are some on eBay at various prices.
