Can a Google "Dev Phone 1" (HTC) be upgraded to Android 2.2?

I have been agreed a dev phone 1 with an ancient Android OS. Apparently, this is a developer phone capable of life upgraded to any new Android OS. So far, I have only seen references to upgrading dev phone 1 devices to version 1.6 of Android. My assignment is to upgrade the phone to Android 2.2.

I’ve just done this with fantastic success, but it will take a few hours and you have to bite the bullet.

I followed these instructions:

and referred back to these:

to see how to do some tasks such as fastboot, etc.

As long as you’re careful not to brick the phone, I recommend it as the phone is much better as a result.
