What is a difference between droid and android?

What is the main difference between droid and android?
All i know is that these two terms are used with cell phones generally… Not much sure about the main difference???

There is no different – ‘Droid’ is a shortened form of ‘Android’.
I judge that the term was first coined in the first Star Wars movie.

Droid is a name used by a new verizon phone on the market.
Droid is also a Lucas Film Trademark
