What is the difference bettween the old iphone and the iphone 3g?

I want to know the differences between the old iphone and the one that is coming out in july.

3g is thinner, comes with the iphone 2.0 software stock, has GPS built in, and uses the 3G network. and its way cheaper.

3G – High speed internet access
GPS – built in GPS for mapping
Thinner
Better battery life
multiple colors available (for the 16GB)

The old Iphone uses the GSM platform where the 3G phone will use the UMTS platform. More speed in the new system. If you have a 3G phone now download something from the net then go to a GSM only area and download something…They each use a different platform and 3G is much faster and we’re working on making it even faster now…

And now you can use the iPhone via Wi-Fi. Meaning, if your on the phone and it detects a Wi-Fi network, it will automatically switch from Edge or 3G (depending on where you are) to Wi-Fi, and not use up your minutes.

I want to get an iphone but i dont want to leave T mobile. I know i can get someone to unlock the phone for me but what would be the downside to doing that? Also if anyone has an iphone can you tell me what you DONT like about it. Thanks.

Answer by jsteward72
1) Unlocking the phone means that it will not be covered under any warranty if something happens
2) The visual voicemail would not work on T-Mobile the way it does with AT&T

Most features will work exactly the same. The iPhone is a really good phone, but here are the disadvantages.
1) Very expensive
2) High monthly payments with all the internet payments etc.
3) Battery is not replacable
4) It does not have 3G
5) Does not have any external memory. Only internal. So if something happens all your data is gone
6) It does not shoot videos
7) I don’t think it has a flash for the camera 8) Has no build in radio
9) And many other deficits

I would not recommend getting it with T-Mobile and I would not recommend switching to AT&T either. You will see how they will rip you off with your bills.

Wait for phones to come out with T-Mobile. They haven’t had new phones really that have come in recently, so they will over the next month. If you need internet maybe you might consider the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1. It should also be available in a couple of months but I’m not sure about the carrier.

Smaller phones are the Motorola Rokr E8 that might actually come to T-Mobile real soon. It’s like an iPod nano.

So as I said, almost all features would work with T-Mobile, but it’s your choice if it’s worth it to you.

The Sabre iPhone 4 case from Fusionwerkz is another take on anodized aluminum cases. Following up on the company’s Raw frame, which IGM previously reviewed, the Sabre combines plastic and aluminum for an interesting combo of protection and looks. The Sabre is available in three different forms, Part Open (pictured), Open, and Closed Back. The options refer to the backing of the case where Open is basically a bumper style case and closed is fully covered. Part Open has a support piece across the middle of the case back. The plastic portion of the frame is black and the aluminum available in multiple colors. Colors available are Cool Pink, Fire Red, Steel Silver, Stealth Black, Gunmetal Gray, Royal Blue, and Burnt Orange (pictured). Pricing for all models lists for . fusionwerkz.com
